PaperKid

Privacy policy

PaperKid is run by WebAppsLab, an individual based in India. This page explains what we keep about you and why. The short version: you can use PaperKid without an account, worksheets are made on your own device, we don’t show ads and we never sell your data.

Making worksheets

Worksheets and PDFs are drawn in your browser or in the app on your device. The worksheets you make, and anything you type into them – such as a child’s name or practice words – are not sent to us unless you save them while signed in (see below).

Without an account

Your settings (country, paper size), saved worksheets and workbook progress are kept in your browser’s local storage on this device only. We can’t see them. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

If you sign in with Google

Signing in is optional. It lets you keep your saved worksheets and progress across devices. When you sign in, we receive and store:

  • from Google: your name, email address, profile photo link and an account ID (through Firebase Authentication);
  • saved worksheets: the worksheet type, the name you gave it and its settings – these can include a child’s first name or words you typed;
  • workbook progress: which parts of a workbook you have downloaded or ticked;
  • Daily Practice: the letter to continue from.

Children

PaperKid is made for parents, carers and teachers to use with children. Accounts are for adults: children should not sign in. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. The only child-related detail we may hold is a name you choose to print on a worksheet and save – we suggest a first name or nickname only.

Visit counts

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to the website. It doesn’t use cookies or store anything on your device, doesn’t track you across sites and doesn’t collect personal information. It records the page visited, the referring site, and general browser, device and country information.

Google Analytics (only if you allow it)

If you choose “Allow” on the analytics notice, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which worksheets are used, so we can improve them. It records pages viewed, worksheet downloads, prints, shares and saves, and general device and browser information. IP addresses are anonymised, and Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga) to recognise repeat visits. If you choose “No thanks”, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with “Analytics settings” at the bottom of every page.

Who processes your data

We use Google services: Firebase Hosting (serves the website), Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (stores the account data above) and, if you allow it, Google Analytics. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for cookie-free visit counts. Google and Cloudflare may process this data on servers outside your country. Like any website host, Firebase Hosting may briefly log technical request details such as IP addresses to keep the service secure and running.

We don’t sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone else, and PaperKid has no advertising.

How long we keep it and how to delete it

Account data is kept until you delete it. You can remove single saved worksheets at any time, or delete your whole account from the account menu (your photo in the top bar → “Delete account”). That permanently removes your saved worksheets, progress and sign-in account from our systems straight away. You can also email us to ask for deletion.

Your rights

Depending on where you live – for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or the GDPR in the UK and the EU – you may have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email us and we will reply within 30 days.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, and our database rules allow each signed-in person to read and change only their own data.

Payments

PaperKid doesn’t take payments today. If we add paid features, we will update this policy before they go live to explain what payment details are handled and by whom.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell signed-in users about important changes. You can reach us at pavan@webappslab.com.
